Ajaccio–Marseille: what our readings show
Two companies run the Ajaccio–Marseille route: La Méridionale and Corsica Linea. Our readings of 17 August 2026 cover departures from August 2026 to January 2027.
August 2026 at the peak, January 2027 at the floor
For one adult foot passenger with a reclining seat, August 2026 opens the window at its peak: €99.14 on average, for a minimum of €73.91 recorded on 31 August 2026 with Corsica Linea. From September to November 2026, the average falls back: €48.58 in September for a minimum of €36.95, then €38.85 in October and €37.05 in November. December 2026 settles at €37.14, and January 2027, at the far end of the window, at €36.95 — minimum and average alike. From September 2026 to January 2027, the monthly floor no longer moves: €36.95, five months in a row.
The same shape returns, amplified, on the packages with a car and a cabin. For one adult, a car and a cabin, August 2026 shows €468.90 on average for a minimum of €184.22 recorded on 31 August 2026, while January 2027 comes back to €133.22. For two adults with a car and a cabin, the figure moves from €547.82 on average in August, minimum €239.00, to €163.17 in January 2027. And for two adults, two children, a car and a cabin, the August average tops out at €648.92, the month's minimum holding at €316.82, against €213.07 in January 2027.
The gap between days stays modest
For the foot passenger with a reclining seat, the cheapest day is Thursday, at €43.00 on average against €47.95 on Friday, the highest day of the week. The same day holds the lead for one adult with a car and a cabin, at €165.37 on average. As soon as a second adult joins, the low point slides to Tuesday: €203.04 for two adults with a car and a cabin, €262.14 with two children on top, while Saturday rises to €248.42. The day of departure counts, then, but on a scale that bears no comparison with the month.
La Méridionale lower in our readings
For the foot passenger with a reclining seat, La Méridionale is the lower on both metrics: €36.95 at the minimum and €43.24 on average, against €65.91 and €103.91 for Corsica Linea. The eight cheapest dates on this profile are all carried by La Méridionale at €36.95, spread from October 12 to December 31, 2026.
With the car, the advantage does not flip. For one adult, a car and a cabin, La Méridionale starts at €133.22 for €168.82 on average, against €142.09 and €265.13 with Corsica Linea. For two adults with a car and a cabin, the gap widens: €163.17 at the minimum and €202.02 on average with La Méridionale, facing €203.00 and €368.21. For two adults and two children, the hierarchy still holds: €213.07 at the minimum and €262.48 on average, against €272.82 and €466.32. The average saving from picking the cheaper company runs from 12.0% for one adult with a car and a cabin to 35.2% for the foot passenger with a reclining seat.
On the foot passenger profile, the best return trip recorded is carried by La Méridionale from end to end: €36.95 outward on 15 September 2026, €35.82 back on 20 September 2026, or €72.77 for the two legs.
The two companies together handle the service to Corsica out of Marseille under a public service delegation: they share the line and sell each other their crossings by allocation, so that a single crossing can be offered at two fares. On the crossing of 22 September 2026 assigned to the Piana, for two adults, two children, a car and a cabin, La Méridionale showed €250.07 and Corsica Linea €569.82. Same crossing, two prices, one ship.
Leaving from another port for Marseille
Among the Corsican ports recorded for Marseille, Porto-Vecchio offers the lowest entry point for a foot passenger with a reclining seat, with La Méridionale: from €34.62 for a departure on 15 September 2026, €47.33 on average. Ajaccio follows, also with La Méridionale, from €36.95 for €46.13 on average. The other ports recorded run with Corsica Linea: L'Île-Rousse from €55.50 (€69.44 on average), Bastia from €56.01 (€71.91 on average) and Propriano from €57.64 (€74.77 on average). The port of departure shifts the entry point as much as the month of departure.
