Ajaccio–Marseille: what our readings show
Two companies run the Ajaccio–Marseille route: La Méridionale and Corsica Linea. Our readings of 14 September 2026 cover departures from September 2026 to January 2027.
September 2026 at the peak, January 2027 at the trough
For one adult foot passenger with a reclining seat, September 2026 opens the window at its peak: €56.35 on average, for a minimum of €39.95 recorded on 28 September 2026 with La Méridionale. From October to December 2026, the average falls back: €49.00 in October, €43.55 in November, €43.37 in December. January 2027, at the far end of the window, settles at €36.95 — minimum and average alike. From October 2026 to January 2027, the monthly floor no longer moves: €36.95, month after month.
The same shape returns, amplified, on the packages with a car and a cabin. For one adult, a car and a cabin, September 2026 shows €262.24 on average for a minimum of €146.22 recorded on 28 September 2026, while January 2027 comes back to €138.04. For two adults with a car and a cabin, the figure moves from €315.47 on average in September 2026, minimum €178.17, to €172.41 in February 2027. And for two adults, two children, a car and a cabin, the average for September 2026 tops out at €373.47, the month's minimum holding at €230.07, against €228.45 in February 2027.
The gap between days stays modest
For the foot passenger with a reclining seat, the cheapest day is Monday, at €44.55 on average against €48.64 on Friday, the highest day of the week. The same day holds the lead across every package recorded: €143.01 for one adult with a car and a cabin, €179.86 for two adults, €238.45 with two children on top. The top of the week, on the other hand, shifts as soon as the car enters the package: Saturday becomes the dearest day, at €220.66 for two adults with a car and a cabin. The day of departure counts, then, but on a scale that bears no comparison with the month.
La Méridionale lower in our readings
For the foot passenger with a reclining seat, La Méridionale is the lower on both metrics: €36.95 at the minimum and €44.39 on average, against €58.91 and €60.77 for Corsica Linea. The eight cheapest dates on this profile all fall to La Méridionale, at one and the same price — €36.95 — between November 2026 and January 2027.
With the car, the advantage does not flip. For one adult, a car and a cabin, La Méridionale starts at €133.22 for €160.94 on average, against €142.09 and €160.46 with Corsica Linea. For two adults with a car and a cabin, the gap widens: €163.17 at the minimum and €197.19 on average with La Méridionale, facing €188.00 and €207.96. For two adults and two children, the hierarchy still holds: €213.07 at the minimum and €250.88 on average, against €257.82 and €279.58. The average saving from picking the cheaper company runs from 12.8% for one adult with a car and a cabin to 28.3% for the foot passenger with a reclining seat.
On the foot passenger profile, the best return trip recorded is carried by La Méridionale from end to end: €36.95 outward on 6 October 2026, €35.82 back on 7 October 2026, or €72.77 for the two legs.
The two companies together handle the service to Corsica out of Marseille under a public service delegation: they share the line and sell each other their crossings by allocation, so that a single crossing can be offered at two fares. On the crossing of 16 September 2026 assigned to the Pascal Paoli, for two adults, two children, a car and a cabin, La Méridionale showed €298.07 and Corsica Linea €599.82. Same crossing, two prices, one ship.
Leaving from another port for Marseille
Among the Corsican ports recorded for Marseille, Porto-Vecchio offers the lowest entry point for a foot passenger with a reclining seat, with La Méridionale: from €36.95 for a departure on 9 November 2026, €46.29 on average. Porto-Vecchio follows, also with La Méridionale, from €37.62 for €55.76 on average. The other ports recorded run with Corsica Linea: Bastia from €56.01 (€64.11 on average), L'Île-Rousse from €56.50 (€63.18 on average) and Propriano from €57.64 (€62.60 on average). The port of departure shifts the entry point as much as the month of departure.
